Sierra Leone

Sharing borders with Guinea and Liberia, the Republic of Sierra Leone is situated on the west coast of the African continent, where an Atlantic coastline of some three hundred miles offers the country massive tourist potential. The capital and largest city of Freetown was founded by British settlers in the late 18th century and it’s home today to around a million of Sierra Leone’s population of six million people.

The 18-hole layout at Freetown Golf Club overlooks the Atlantic Ocean at Cockerill Bay, the only one of six golf courses in Sierra Leone from a decade ago that remains intact as the others fell into disrepair during a devastating eleven year-long civil war. The golf club was founded by the British military in 1904, moving to its present Lumley Beach site thirty years later.
