The K Club, or to give it its full title, the Kildare Country Club, is located in 550 acres of rolling County Kildare countryside – it’s the most renowned golf resort in Ireland.
If you are a traditionalist then the Smurfit golf course is probably not up your street. If you are seeking thrills and excitement, then the K Club is for you.
Kapalua Resort once boasted three 18-hole courses but it’s now reduced to two layouts – the Plantation course which hosts the annual Tour of Champions event and the older Bay course that Arnold Palmer and Frank Duane designed back in 1974.
As the site for the course at King’s Walk was totally flat, Arnold Palmer moved over half a million cubic yards of soil to create some movement in the land before routing the fairways around the newly fashioned contours.
Opened in 2001, the 18-hole Palmer course at La Cantera Golf Club is a wonderful complementary layout to the Resort course that Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish completed six years earlier at the same venue.
Sharing a clubhouse with the original Marshwood layout at The Landings Club, the Magnolia course is another Arnold Palmer track from 1977 which Tim Liddy remodelled at the start of the new millennium.
Laid out on 245 acres of prime Burlington County property next to the Interstate 295 highway, the 18-hole layout at Laurel Creek Country Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature Design which was unveiled to the membership in 1988.
The 1975 Ryder Cup put Laurel Valley Golf Club on the map and team USA won comfortably 21-11. The winning margin would have been greater had England’s Brian Barnes not upset Jack's applecart.
La Pavoniere Golf & Country Club is one of three Italian projects that have been completed by the Arnold Palmer Design Company and it’s a mid-1980s layout that sits within an estate that once belonged to Prince Leopoldo de’ Medici.
