Most golfers will be familiar with Valderrama from TV coverage. The golf club has hosted a plethora of championships, including the legendary 1997 Ryder Cup. In 2014 the club was granted Royal status.

It all started in 1914 with Canadian Frederick Stark Pearson and his Barcelona Traction Company which had the contract to electrify the local railway line. He built a course for his workers, calling in none other than Harry Colt to design the layout.

Located fifteen kilometres to the north east of Barcelona, Club de Golf Vallromanes is a 1972 F.W. Hawtree design and host venue for the 1985 Spanish Open which Seve Ballesteros won comfortably by four shots.
