U.S. Amateur host courses
Saucon Valley (Old)
12th
Laid out by Herbert Strong in 1921, the Saucon Valley Country Club’s Old course has hosted numerous national competitions, including the US Amateur (1951), two US Senior Opens and the 2009 US Women’s Open.
Shinnecock Hills
1st

Not only was Shinnecock Hills Golf Club one of the five founding members of the USGA but also it was where one of the first specifically designed golf clubhouses was built.
Shoal Creek
1st
Bob Cupp (when he was senior designer for Jack Nicklaus) designed Shoal Creek and the course opened in 1977, hosting several top-flight competitions since then.
Southern Hills (Championship)
1st

There’s nothing flash about Southern Hills. Mature deciduous trees line many of the Bermuda grass fairways and the rough is notoriously thick and tangly.
The Country Club
7th

Host to the US Women’s Amateur in 2012, the Country Club originally moved to Pepper Pike in the mid 1920s, where William Flynn laid out eighteen holes that were both stylish and strategic.
The Country Club (Clyde & Squirrel)
1st

The name may sound a little arrogant and for golfers in the know, there’s no need to explain that The Country Club at Brookline was the first of its type in the USA.
The Honors Course
1st

The Honors Course is set in a secret valley to the north of Chattanooga and it’s another jewel in America’s golf course crown.
