Opened in 2000, the A course at Agile Golf & Country Club was laid out by JMP Golf Design Group in a dramatic mountain setting. The "A" just gets our nod ahead of the Schmidt & Curley-designed B layout at this impressive 36-hole facility.
The course appeared in The Rolex World’s Top 1000 Golf Courses with the following edited narrative extract:
“The A course at the Agile Golf Club is the work of Mark Hollinger, one of three partners of US design company JMP. The Agile Group itself is a huge national property company with extensive connections in both China and Hong Kong. That much is evident from the upmarket real estate around the course and a well-equipped clubhouse and hotel situated behind the 18th green.
As a course, the A has won fans on the back of considerable beauty, fine use of the land and first-class maintenance. A humid climate and no frost mean top quality Bermuda grass has been used to provide ideal playing conditions year-round. Probably, the best hole on the course is the 8th, a brilliantly bunkered and fair par four that gives you plenty of options off the tee.”
