Alamos Golf Course
The NAU Morgado Golf & Country Club lies close to Portimão, on the north side of the Algarve’s main coastal highway, with two 18-hole courses in operation. The Morgado layout has hosted the Open de Portugal in recent years, somewhat overshadowing the shorter Alamos course.
Laid out by European Golf Design and opened for play in 2006, the course measures 5,710 metres in length, playing to a par of 71 (36 out then 35 back), where the front nine holes are configured as three par threes, three par fours and three par fives.
Highlight holes on this tight track include the severely right doglegging par five 2nd; the shortest par three on the card at the 143-metre 3rd; and the par five 8th (rated stroke index 1). The short par four 15th is the star of the inward half, with a storm ditch slashing diagonally across the fairway between tee and green.
