The exclusive Albany resort was created by a businessman Joe Lewis and his private investment firm known as Tavistock Group. Tavistock Group, in association with several prominent Golfers and investors which includes Tiger Woods and Ernie Els.The Big Easy was further involved in the architectural design, when Greg Letsche from his golf design firm walked the fairways of a 565-acre estate development that is in close proximity to Lyford Cay in the south west of New Providence island.It was officially launched in December 2010 the links-style course extends over 7,400 yards from back tees. The layout is five par fives and five threes. The remaining holes are designed as four-par. Five tee positions on each hole allows non-professional players to play a shorter but still enjoyable course at Albany.Big Easy Big Easy along with the design group transformed an mostly flat area by building a series of lakes, using the excavated materials to construct the structure of the false sand dunes forms that are now separated from the fairways. Sand dug from the deep-water channel that flows into the marina of the resort was then used to create the caps for the man-made dunes.Some of the holes with special features include the 2nd hole, a par 3 (which Ernie Els likens to the 13th hole at Muirfield which is one of his favorite holes) and the Par four 14th (with an open fairway that entices golfers to hit the green from the tee) as well as seventeenth, a par 3 in which a lot of tee shots will be sucked up in the lake which runs around the left side part of the green.In 2014 The World Challenge was hosted at Isleworth Golf & Country Club after a 14-year period in Sherwood Country Club in California. The World Challenge was held in 2015 and the tournament was relocated outside of in the US to the United States for the very first time, moving to Albany which is in which Bubba Watson became champion. It was the Hero World Challenge (hosted by Tiger Woods) has been held in New Providence ever since.Tom Doak commented as follows in The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses: "If you have a boat that is 150 feet long and a course that is less than 7,300 yards isn't enough to get the boat you're on, stepping to the shores of the big boys at Albany's harbor might be not your cup of tea. However, you might not remember anything about your experience after you're done. With fairways that are low that are surrounded by sandy wastes one side and Dune grass fluttering over mounds to the opposite these holes tend to be a bit muddled. They'd be better off with a quarter of the landscaping budget which means they'd have the option of picking which holes to improve rather than just taking them all."
