Despite having played most of the courses in Tenerife I finally played Amarilla. I remain undecided if it’s a good course or not, the condition isn’t great and it looks rather unloved and tired. Maybe the course surrounds of untidy wasteland and rather grotty looking villas clouded my judgement, there are some great holes here and plenty of elevation change to enjoy but it doesn’t seem to flow as a course, the routing seems to have been decided by the properties which line quite a few holes rather than the terrain. The greens were fun with some of severest slopes I’d even seen on greens, get in the wrong place and 3 putt is a good result. It is however decent value given the cost is lower than other Tenerife courses. I’d suggest playing it if you have a spare day but not at the expense of playing Adeje or Golf De Sur.
