Anvaya Cove
Situated on the west coast of the Bataan peninsula, a twenty-minute drive to the south of Subic Bay Freeport Zone, the Anvaya Cove Golf & Sports Club is an upscale residential development from Ayala Land Premier, one of the largest real estate companies in the Philippines.
Kevin Ramsey of Golfplan designed the seaside course which anchors the project, setting out two distinct 9-hole circuits, named “Mountain” and “Seaside”. The front nine holes lie more inland, routed around sizeable pockets of housing, followed by a more open back nine that heads down towards the beach before returning to the clubhouse.
Holes 11 through 13 form Anvaya Cove’s stunning coastline version of “Amen Corner,” with a driveable par four that looks out across Subic Bay, a par four which then plays downhill towards the beach, and a cliff top par three where the green falls off on three sides down to the ocean.
Architect Ramsey commented: "Truly great golf courses can exist in a single environment, but I prefer those that play through a diversity of environments. The terrain here allowed us to create an uninterrupted string of really strong golf holes that never repeat themselves, and never fail to elicit a strong emotional response."
"From the tips, it's long and tough enough to challenge tour pros, which is something the client specifically requested but it's very playable track from the multiple forward tees we created," Ramsey added. "At 470 hectares, this is an enormous property. We were given the latitude to provide these golf holes the width they needed".
