Arendal & Omegn

The Arendal & Omegn Golf Club is a real Norwegian golfing success story as the club’s climb to prominence in the national course rankings is all down to the hard work and fund raising efforts of its core membership. Starting out in 1986, the club’s members set to work on building their own course and this took until 1994 to complete.

Today the club boasts a 6,363-yard, par 72, 18-hole track and a 9-hole, par three learner layout. The main course is routed over some rather hilly terrain, involving some blind shots along the way, but this only adds to the pleasure of playing such a nicely balanced course.

The back nine holes are tighter than the front nine, with trees and water hazards coming more into play. It’s no big secret then to understand that playing to handicap at Arendal & Omegn is achieved by scoring well before the turn then holding on to what you’ve made on the way towards the home hole.
