Ashford Manor

Founded in 1898, Ashford Manor Golf Club moved four years later from Staines Moor to its 100-acre current location close to the Queen Mary Reservoir near Heathrow airport.

In 1905, Harold Hilton – who had already won the Amateur twice and the Open twice – joined the club and he remained a member until 1915, by which time he had won another two Amateur titles and the US Amateur.

Today, the layout at the club extends to just over 6,400 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 70 (36 out then 34 in), with only two par fives on the card at the 3rd and 15th.

Highlight holes on the outward half include the severely left doglegging 5th and the only short hole on the front nine at the 173-yard 6th, where two large bunkers guard the hourglass-shaped green.

On the inward half, back-to-back par threes play in parallel (in opposite directions) at the 11th and 12th, immediately before tackling the tough par four 13th (rated stroke index 2).

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
