The course at Ǻsundsholm Golf & Country Club is set within a beautiful property on the east shore of Ǻsunden Lake, where the author Birgit Th. Sparre wrote most of her books in the series entitled “Estates around the Lake.”
Opened for play in 2007, the course quickly established itself as one of the best new golfing additions in the Västergötland region, constructed with USGA-standard bent greens and grass-lined bunkers, incorporating winding creeks and beautiful dams into the design. Set as two returning nines, the 18-hole layout stretches to 5,785 meters from the back tees, playing to a par of 72.
Notable holes include the first of the par threes at the 155-metre 2nd (where a small pond lurks to the right of the bunkerless green); the tough par five 481-metre 12th (which has the green positioned on the other side of a small lake); and the 500-metre 18th, with the fairway narrowing substantially as it reaches the sand-protected home green.
