Åtvidaberg

Formed in 1954, Åtvidabergs Golfklubb appointed Douglas Brasier (who has more than twenty Swedish course designs to his name) to set out the original course for the members. Peter Nordvall has since carried out a new millennium upgrade of the layout.

Today, the layout extends to 5,808 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 71 (35 out then 36 in) and holes are arranged as two returning nines. With only one par five on the front nine, the outward half measures 250 metres shorter than the inward half.

Water comes into play at half a dozen holes, most notably on the front nine at #4, #5 and #7 (where little ponds lie to the right of the putting surface) and on the back nine at the par five 11th and par three 17th (with Lake Bysjön bounding the left of the fairway on both holes).

Highlight holes include short par fours on #5, #8 and #16, along with the longest of the par threes at the 196-metre 13th, with two small bunkers protecting the front right of the green. Right doglegging par fours at the 3rd and 12th are rated the toughest holes on the card.
