Bahia Beach - Puerto Rico

In 2008, almost fifty years after Robert Trent Jones fashioned the Dorado Beach courses, his son Robert Junior's first design project in Puerto Rico was unveiled as the centerpiece of the 483-acre St Regis Bahia Beach Resort and Golf Club.

Laid out on a wooded property between the now defunct Berwind Country Club and Coco Beach Golf & Country Club to the north east of the island, Bahia Beach works its way around 80 acres of saltwater lagoons before it ends with three holes along the Atlantic coast.

Trent Jones Junior used most of the playing corridors of an old course (the Bahia Beach Plantation) when he created the new Bahia Beach layout. As he says, “we gave one hole over to new development and created a new hole elsewhere on the site that still blends naturally with the rest of the course”.
