Played this as part of the causeway golf competition, this is promoted as a links course with a few parkland holes.

in essence the first 5 are pure parkland across the road by a river and an old cemetery, then about 4 links holes and 18 on the way back, the others are really hilly type parkland as the course goes up into the raised clifftop.some of the holes were a bit bonkers especially 9 and 10 with blind shots...

Its a fun trek with a great mix of parkland, links and heathland. The views are spectacular, especially on the stretch of links holes towards the end of the front 9. Condition was really good too.

A friend and I played Ballycastle during a 5 day trip to Northern Ireland for The Open in 2019 and was one of 5 courses we played (the others being Castlerock (Mussenden), Royal Belfast, Clandeboye (Dufferin) and the Riverside course at Portstewart).

It is worth disclosing at the start of this review that I chose this round to play utterly terrible golf, shooting a miserable 24 points where at each of the other courses I was 32+. Perhaps it is for this reason that I remember Ballycastle far less fondly than the other courses, but am bearing this...

Ballycastle won’t be top of the list if you’re looking for golf in the area, the big names such as County Down, Portrush and Portstewart will always dominate and rightly so.

I have played over 100 couses in the GB&I including 40+ in Ireland and this is disappointing. I do love quirky courses but this did not have enough charm for me. Played 2010 and 2011 in Causeway Golf Tourney and will play again in 2012 - this course starts in a park and then goes to the sea!

The park for warmup and then the shotmaking starts. Fun course even when wind and rain make it really tough. lots of interesting shots required. Well worth the stop and near Morton's for great fish and chips, too!

The course varies greatly with a few very memorable holes. I rate this as a delightful experience and I enjoyed it much more than Castlerock, (played the following day). It is suitable for all handicaps and not easy but very playable. CW Jones, Bendigo, Australia
