Bear Creek (Creek)

Bear Creek Golf Club is located near the famous Mount Wunak, not far from Pocheon in the northeastern region of Gyeonggi province. The club’s unusual strap line is “a stream where bears used to hang out”, so keep watch, you may catch a fleeting glimpse of one of these shy mammals.

Bear Creek has been recognised by national golf magazines as the best public golf course in Korea on multiple occasions. Developed with the notion that “the most natural is the most beautiful”, Bear Creek Golf Club opened in 2003 as a 36-hole facility with two 18-hole public courses named Bear and & Creek. Each layout was routed sympathetically using Nature’s topography.

Local architect Jeong-won Jang Both designed both courses utilising the Japanese dual green system for flexibility. But the club founder decided to commission Joon-taek Noh to renovate the Creek course, which re-opened with a single green configuration in 2009.

The club founder, Dr. Noh, also included the addition of extra creeks and significant re-bunkering as part of the 7,219-yard Creek renovation. Fairways were seeded with Kentucky Bluegrass to prolong the playing season.
