Belleair Country Club East Course

The East Course at Belleair Country Club is the shorter of the two on offer. The second course, formerly known as the No. 2 Course, it plays to a par of 71 and can be stretched from 4717 yards to 6265 yards.

Golf was played here on a six-hole course until 1899 when three more holes were added to bring the total to nine. The West was expanded to 18 and the No.2 course was also brought to fruition by 1915 by none other than Donald J Ross.

In 1920, the names of the courses were changed from No.1 and No.2 to East and West. In 1924, Ross returned to improve, upgrade and renovate his previous designs.

The courses have also seen their fair share of golfing greats besides Ross. Walter Hagan shot a 62 here in 1923. Bobby Jones played an exhibition match here in 1935. In 1943, Walter Hagan returned with Gene Sarazen and Babe Ruth graced the course with their presence.

The East course was renovated in 2005 and currently, the 17-strong member East Golf Course Renovation Committee is working through the proposals for a complete redo akin to the West. The driving range, putting area, and short game area will also be revamped.
