Benalup

Belgian golf course architect Paul Rolin designed the 18-hole layout at Benalup Golf and Country Club in 2001 and its fairways complement the other sporting facilities here, including a swimming pool, tennis courts, horse stables and fitness centre.

Set out on gently undulating land, twenty five miles to the south east of Jerez, the course measures nearly 6,700 yards in length and its five par five holes go a long way to determining its hefty par of 73.

Many fairways are tree-lined with a number of them protected by artificial lakes (especially on the front nine) and bunkering on most of the raised, sloping greens is relatively light.

The par three 10th is a lovely hole, followed by the 340-yard, uphill par four 11th which doglegs to the right round a large tree in the middle of the fairway to an elevated green where great views can be had over the entire La Janda valley.
