Overall rating

Black Bush Golf Club (A & B)

Situated close to the M3 motorway from Dublin, Black Bush Golf Club was formed in 1987 by golfers who couldn’t get into local golf clubs because of the long waiting lists. Bobby Browne, the Laytown & Bettystown professional, was involved in setting up the club and he laid out the three nines (across a 170-acre property) that are still in play today.

In the book Hooked: an amateur’s guide to the golf courses of Ireland author Kevin Markham writes: “This fairly flat 27-hole parkland course is generous off the tee and promises attractive approaches. It is deceptively spacious and the tree-lined fairways don’t feel like it... Black Bush is a pleasant stroll that requires you to hit the ball from time to time.”

The premier 18-hole layout at Black Bush comprises the A and B nines, extending to 6,645 yards, and this combination of holes plays to a par of 73. Notable holes include the short par three A4 and long par five A9 on the “A” circuit, along with the right doglegging par four B5 and birdieable par five B9 on the “B” nine.
