Hidden in a rural pocket in deepest Hampshire, Blackmoor is a delightful heathland track that is well worth a visit.

I found Blackmoor to be an intriguing challenge – evoking the metaphor of an iron fist in a velvet glove.

This is a lovely heathland course nice in great condition, no blind holes all laid out in front, lots of raised greens with false flats, greens very true.

I wasn’t fortunate enough to find Blackmoor sooner in my golf course architecture education, meaning I have only seen it very recently and in its current post renovation form.

Fun and quirky, with improvements clear to see.

Blackmoor is near to where I live and l have played it a number of times over the last 25 years and it’s story is one of continuing improvement with the heathland golf course today highly regarded as one of the best in the county of Hampshire.

Blackmoor is a Harry Colt gem.

Reading some of the previous reviews that have knocked Blackmoor for various factors like excitement or practice facilities just goes to show how far the club has come since.
