Blue Canyon (Lakes)

Located within a massive 720-acre property next to Phuket International airport, the Lakes course at Blue Canyon Country Club opened in 1999, eight years after the unveiling of the Canyon course.
Built on the site of an old tin mine, the fairways of the Lakes layout feature water hazards on all but one of the holes and the course routing makes optimum use of the wandering creeks and water-filled gullies that were formed during the mining years.
The 219-yard 8th is a feature hole on the front nine and it’s played from an elevated tee position across water to a sand-protected green that features a bank of Flowering Allamandas as a rather unusual backdrop.
On the back nine, the 200-yard 17th is the only waterless hole on the card, relying on a severely contoured green to protect par. The penultimate hole precedes one of the toughest finishing par fours in Thai golf, where the canyon-fronted home green is rarely ever reached in two shots.
