The course is located within a sprawling 720-acre site adjacent the Phuket International airport, the Lakes course at Blue Canyon Country Club opened in 1999, just eight years after the opening of the Canyon course.
The course is situated on the site of an old tin mine The fairways on the Lakes layout have water hazards on every one of the holes. the routing of the course makes optimal use of the creeks that wander and water-filled gullies created during the mining era.
The 219-yard hole is one of the holes that is a focal point in the first nine. it is playable from an elevated over the water, before the green, which is sand-protected and has an area full of Flowering Allamandas as an unique background.
In the back nine, the 200-yard hole 17th is the only hole that is water-free on the list, relying on a heavily contoured green to safeguard the par. The final hole is preceded by one of the toughest final holes on the course. Thai golf, and the green with a canyon front is seldom completed within two shots.
