Bokskogen (Gamla)

Bokskogen lies a 20-minute drive to the east of Malmö, close to the city airport and members of the golf club are spoiled for choice as they have two great courses here. The New is a short, heathland course that opened in 1992 and the Gamla (Old), designed by Jan Sederholm and Tommy Nordsröm, is a longer, parkland course that was first played in 1967.

Laid out on the shores of Lake Yddingen, the Gamla course was the venue for the European Boys Team Championship in 2006. Therefore, given that the Old course has previously hosted the PLM Open (a forerunner to the Scandinavian Masters), big tournaments are nothing new at Bokskogens Golfklubb.

Despite the large number of birch trees on the property, the Old Course has fairly wide fairways and steering clear of the water hazards can make a good score as can sinking a few putts on some of the elevated, multi-tiered putting surfaces. The signature hole is the 150-yard, par three, 10th played over water to a kidney shaped green on the other side.
