Bond Head (South)

Members of The Club at Bond Head have two magnificent semi-private modern courses at their disposal and Jason Straka, from the respected Hurdzan Fry design company, designed them both. The South was first to open in 2005 with the North following a year later.

Spread out over five hundred acres of heavily wooded property to the north of Toronto, the courses at Bond Head were designed to offer two different types of golf experience.

The longer South is meant to provide a links-like game whilst the North is constructed in a more traditional parkland style with dramatic elevation changes, tight fairways and small greens.

The South course is laid out in two distinct loops of nine and Pennsville Creek comes into play on several occasions. Fairways and greensites are guarded by what one commentator has described as “a sea of wild looking bunkers” so it’s fair to say the sand traps are intended to leave a lasting impression.

Golfers tackle the par three 5th after a long walk from the 4th green then it takes another ten holes before another short hole is encountered at the 15th. Three tough holes are played at the end of the front nine and the first of these, the par five 7th, is one of two extremely long holes on the South course that measure in excess of 625 yards from tee to green.
