Box Hill

Since the 1980s, Box Hill Golf Club has managed to purchase land previously leased from several local authority utilities, allowing it to create a couple of new holes (the 15th and 16th) and redevelop a few others (holes 13, 14, 17 and 18).

The course now extends to just over 5,600 metres, playing to a par of 71 (35 out then 36 in), with tree-lined holes arranged as two returning nines. Gardiners Creek runs through the property, coming into play at holes #1, #6 and #15. There’s further aquatic challenge to be found between holes 10 and 12 as they route around an irrigation lake.

Other highlight holes include the heavily sand-protected short par 8th and the last of the three par threes on the front nine at the 170-metre 9th, where this green is also surrounded by sand. On the inward half, the par fives at the 441-metre 13th and 446-metre 18th are formidable long holes with the creek lurking along the side of the fairway on both holes.
