Bradenton Country Club

In 1924, Bradenton Country Club was opened as Palma Sola Country Club. The course, laid out by the legendary Donald Ross, lies on the west coast of the Florida panhandle. AF Wyman and EP Green hired Ross to build the course. His original course drawings are available on the club website. Just 3 years later, the Palma Sola would change its name to Bradenton Country Club.

The course slowly evolved until Ron Garl restored the course in 1999. Not much changed on the golf course until 2018 with Tony Jacklin renovating all 18 holes - including rebuilding all the greens, tees, bunkers, and removing cart paths. A reflection of its vintage, the golf course is surrounded by homes rather than golf routed around homes.

The club has a very small membership, with just 300 members allowed… a key tenet of the club is you don't need a tee time. A walkable round played off TifEagle Bermuda means good surfaces despite the warm climate. It has hosted hickory tournaments as well as the LPGA Drive On Championship won by Nelly Korda.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
