Breinholtgård (Skoven & Sletten)
The Skoven and Sletten nines at Breinholtgård Golf Klub were designed by Jonathan Gaunt and Michael Traasdahl Møller, with this 18-hole layout opening for play on 8th August 1992. The shorter Ǻdalen nine was then added eight years later.
Notable holes on the tree-lined Skoven nine include the 338-metre 1st (with a tree in the middle of the fairway as it turns slightly left towards the green); the 399-metre 7th (where the fairways bends left to a green that sits behind a beautiful pond); and the 486-metre 9th which veers right to green that’s protected by bunkers to the left and right of the putting surface.
On the more open Sletten nine, feature holes include the 345-metre 5th (the fairway narrows as it gets closer to a pond-protected green); the 504-metre 7th (with ponds on either side of the fairway at the landing area); and the 376-metre 8th which plays to another water-laden green with a big bunker on the left.
Following the celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary of the club in 2017, Jonathan Gaunt was asked to create a master plan for the 27-hole layout, allowing him to return and put right some of the things that didn’t quite work out first time around. This time, he worked alongside Polish contractor All Golf Services, starting in 2021, with the project due to take two or three years to complete.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
