Bro Hof Slott Golf Club (Stadium)
It was a bold move by Sweden’s Golf Digest Magazine to put the Stadium course at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club at the head of their 2007 biennial Top 50 Swedish golf course rankings. After all, the Stadium course only opened its tees for play on September 1, 2007.
“It must be this way,” said Golf Digest Sweden. “Bro Hof Slott is better than, or at least as good as, other Swedish courses in several of these aspects: layout, aesthetics, variation, length, atmosphere and clubhouse. And despite the fact that the course is new, even its condition is perfect.”
“I am happy and proud. It was brave of the jury to appoint us so soon after the opening” said the owner Björn Örås. Our goal was to create the best Swedish course. Reaching that goal during the first season gives us support to aim even higher. Our next goal is to have the best course in Europe” said Björn Örås.
The Stadium course is now well established and the second course at the club, called the Castle, opened for play in 2009. Clearly Bro Hof Slott has a very bright future, especially given that the Stadium course hosted five editions of the Scandinavian Masters tournament between 2010 and 2016.
Robert Trent Jones Jr. – commented as follows:
“Everything is big at Bro Hof! The holes are longer, the greens are bigger, the course has more water and the bunkers are larger and well placed. Besides which, the wind is always part of the game. On the dogleg holes you not only have to hit the balls a long way, you also have to get them to stop.
Mother Earth must have created this area for a golf course. All I had to do was to walk around this beautiful landscape and see where the holes would fit in. There was an enormous amount of land and a large wallet. If, in spite of everything, there wasn’t enough land, we could get more.”
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
