Burhill Golf Club (Old)
4.5
Throughly enjoyable and relaxing track, Burhill ticks many boxes. Plenty of variety - short and long par 4s, some heavily bunkered holes (beautiful par 4 8th) and others less so, range of par 3s (from a 9-iron on 6th thru to hybrid up the hill on the 10th) and some very tricky greens and rough to contend with offline. Most drives felt strategic and definitely had to consider placement, not just a bash down the middle. Highlights would be the playful short par 4 4th (splendid left bunkers drawing the eye away), curving dogleg 7th and the great drive on 11, reminiscent of the 10th on Sunningdale Old.
Course felt challenging enough but very fun and playable. Lovely staff on the terrace after and beautifully manicured surroundings - I will certainly be back and could happily be a member there if I lived more locally.
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
