We first went to play at Burhill some weeks ago in the midst of some of the worst rain in recent years. As soon as you turn through the gates you are met with the immaculate quality of Burhill and posed with the prospect of not playing a full round due to the weather we sensibly opted to return so we could enjoy the full experience and quality we could see. It was the right choice. We played both the Old and the New and despite the New being the favoured of the two I have to say my presence is the old. Its just felt a bit more intimate. Maybe as it was the second round for us that day it was more relaxed and maybe its shorter its a little less daunting but the twists and turns still provide a good test of golf and the setting is just beautiful.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
