It was interesting to play Cabot Links a couple of times in conjunction with Cabot Cliffs to see the contrasts. There is a little more overall charm to the “Links” as it is compacted into a smaller property. Targeting is a little more important here and there are not quite as many options as there are on the “Cliffs”. But, it’s a tough neighbourhood. The “Links” certainly deserves to stand on its own. The 3-4-5-6 stretch is intimate and terrific. One of my favourites was the par 5 11th – reminiscent of the 6th at Pebble Beach with a long 2nd shot to an elevated plateau and a green that is potentially reachable with the right wind although it doesn’t seem immediately possible. And kudos for the blind tee shot par 4 13th. A tough and thrilling hole back into the prevailing breeze.
