Cabot Revelstoke (also known as Cabot Pacific) is scheduled for play in 2026. Cabot is no stranger to Rod Whitman and his work. Cabot Links, a Rod Whitman creation, opened in 2012 as Canada's first true links and was followed a few years later by Coore & Crenshaw's Cabot Cliffs.
Cabot recently purchased Golf du Médoc in France and renamed it Cabot Bordeaux. The two golf courses in the north of Bordeaux were also laid out by Coore & Crenshaw and Rod Whitman.
Cabot Revelstoke (Cabot Pacific) Resort
The details are scarce at present but the scenery and canvas are breathtaking. Rocky Mountain golf can sometimes feel forced and end up being a jarring assault on the senses despite having a backdrop of some of the most dramatic on earth. Mountain golf can be as artificial as desert golf if the finesse isn't quite right.
Appropriate scale is also difficult to achieve in such a setting - to create harmony with being sat at the base of Mount Mackenzie, the course is routed on a natural bench overlooking the Columbia River. Large greens, expansive fairways, and bold bunkers will be accented by cliffs, creeks and scenic outlooks.
The golf course will be open for members, guests and visitors. The resort will also offer value to members year-round with skiing privileges at Revelstoke Mountain Resort offered as a perk.
Cabot Revelstoke (Cabot Pacific) Golf Course
The plan plans a course with a par of 71 and just 6961 yards - comparatively short for most modern golf courses and at elevation in the mountains. Five par 3's are offset by four par 5's, including two back-to-back on 12 and 13.
The routing is out and back with Camozzi Road bisecting the course. The first two holes play on the valley side of the road before crossing over the mountainside of the road for four more holes.
A nice trifecta of holes (numbers 7 through 9) is routed on the north of the site nearest to town with a par 4, par 3, and par 5 making up the set. You cross the road again to play holes 10 to 15 before crossing the road again for the final three to bring you back to the clubhouse.
Cabot Revelstoke (Cabot Pacific), Bill Coore & Rod Whitman
Whitman has a long history with both Bill Coore and Cabot. Whitman was integral to both Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs but also to many of Coore & Crenshaw's well-known designs, such as: Talking Stick, Friar's Head, and Old Sandwich.
In Canada, Rod Whitman has built Wolf Creek Golf Resort, Blackhawk Golf Club, and Sagebrush. In 2020, he joined forces with Dave Axland and Keith Cutten to form WAC. Whitman-Axland-Cutten are delivering Cabot Revelstoke (Cabot Pacific) for Cabot in Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada.
