I’m a huge fan of Stanley Thompson’s designs and have played a lot of his courses including Highlands, Banff and Jasper. These three courses and Capilano are all set in jaw dropping landscapes. I had to work hard to get a game here at the very private Capilano, but it was well worth the effort. It is my favorite Thompson design and the closing half dozen holes are truly magnificent. They are not only very tough but they are routed brilliantly across exciting ground and the closing hole to an elevated green with a snowy mountain backcloth is simply sublime. Thank the Lord this course has not been meddled with. I hope it never gets a makeover, because it would be wanton sacrilege.
