Carne Golf Links (Wild Atlantic Dunes)

I want to preface this review by mentioning that I am a golf professional with 7 years of tour experience and 10 years as a teaching professional.

Never has a course been more aptly named than the ‘Wild Atlantic Dunes’ routing at Carne in the north west of Ireland.

My first visit to Carne Links was at the end of February 2025.

We played the Hackett and Wild Atlantic Dunes set-ups in a three-day Experience Ireland Golf & Travel competition, taking in all of Carne's 27 holes.

Carne is a 27 hole complex out of the way in Northwest Ireland, but those who travel to this distant western section of the Island are treated to some spectacular golf.

I loved the course.

Golf is all about the journey and Carne Links at Belmullet on the wild west tip of Ireland certainly involves a journey from the south coast of England.

Wonderful layout through the dunes, but tees and several areas on fairways still suffering badly from effects of the winter storms followed by the long spring drought, very bare in places.

My favorite golf course on earth, Carne is unlike any other experience in golf.
