Review for Celtic Manor (Montgomerie)

Reviewer Score:

The Monty course is a new creation using a couple of the old Wentwood Hills holes and a fair piece of the Coldra Woods course land. First piece of advice, do not even think about walking the course, the buggy option is the only option, trust me. This course will be called the third at the resort but this is fun all the way and a great credit in the development of Celtic Manor in what should be an exciting time leading up to the 2010 Ryder Cup. The course is well worth playing with many stand out holes – The tough si1 4th has a very daunting drive, and watch out for the 6th hole – an uphill par 4, where the tee shot seems to go no-where up the steep hill …. Great fun though. For me the best hole has to be the 10th – a downhill par-4 with a lake in front of the green – it pays dividends to be playing your approach after your opponent here, if you needed convincing of taking an extra club that should do it !There is a great vibe on and off the course and there has been a lot of investment. Suggestion is to get there over the next couple of years, as it would be reasonable to expect prices to rise post Ryder Cup.
