This is a brutal test from beginning to end with a 555y Par 5 of course a stand-out.Picturesque halfway house, rolling hills, challenging holes, history - it’s great. The clubhouse and the warm-up facilities are fantastic but unfortunately, the course doesn't follow.

Played it a number of times in winter and summer and unfortunately the course conditions are dreadful for a so-called premium course - it's never worth the green fee.Every bunker I went into was either a mess or had no sand at all. The course layout is boring. The only good holes are 16, 17, and 18....

The staff there were the friendliest staff I have met in any golf club I’ve played. A nice locker with my name on it in the locker room the players used for the 2010 Ryder Cup. Celtic Manor hosted a memorable Ryder Cup on its aptly named 2010 Course but sadly the venue is, in my view, now just a commercial venture living on its reputation.

Such a hard course I managed to shoot 36pts stableford luckily I kept my ball in play, some of the most picturesque backdrops you’ll see well worth a visit.

This is an excellent course and it was clearly exceptionally designed, as to be expected with it hosting the Ryder Cup.

This however has its downside as it attracts every hacker and duffer who thinks they can play, some of the 4 balls in front of us were awful. There was no marshalling of this and it meant that our round took over 5 hours. We were not in a rush but it became a joke, when the 4 ball are topping balls ...
