The second day of a three course, two night visit to the resort. The famous 2010 course is a bit of a drive from the rest of the resort but well worth it.  It has it’s owner purpose built clubhouse.  The locker room is well worth spending time in. The lockers that were used in the Ryder Cup have plaques showing which players had them. You also get allocated a locker which is nice touch.

My wife had no such thing done in the much smaller ladies changing room. Indeed the course seemed to pretty much ignore ladies in general. The shop was full of men’s clothing but only had three item of ladies clothing.

You are given a pre start time to be down by the starters hut and you have an allocated time in the warm up area, balks included.

For the end of February the course was in pretty good condition. I had seen other reviews lamenting how wet the course was but played well. It is a very long big course as would be expected for a purpose build championship course. It winds along side the river and has water hazards either alongside or across over half the holes.

The greens were also in good condition but did have a lot of surface sand which made them play slow. Much slower than Montgomery the day before. Real challenge though if the size and slopes of these green. 20/ 30m putts were common.

We enjoyed the course. The rough was not to unplayable. The length of the holes encourages driving and try to smash the ball as far a possible which didn’t go well. Around half way around the front nine I put the driver w away and focused on plotting the way around with 3w and hybrids, which made for much better scoring

We preferred the back nine. Holes 11 to 13 around the lakes stood out before going over a bridge into the trees and the famous short par 4 15th.  Overall was well worth playing but is very much a big tournament course. Glad we played but not sure would rush back to play again.
