Le Château de Taulane is set about an hour’s drive from Cannes at Le Logis du Pin. The 18th century chateau has been transformed into a hotel with the small chapel and several pigeon lofts creating a charming Provençal hamlet.

It’s not only the “Domaine” that has been restored with the utmost care, but there’s a new golf course too which has been completely refashioned by the “Black Knight”, Gary Player. The new Taulane layout, which is set on some 120 hectares, opened for play in 1992 to critical acclaim.

Seven lakes come into play, most wait to catch the wayward approach shot to the well-protected Taulane green sites. Undoubtedly Taulane is a fascinating but above all fun layout which holds the attention of golfers of all levels from the opening tee shot to the very last putt.

If you truly want to get away from it all and enter a world of calm, head for Château de Taulane which is a haven of peace and tranquillity.

A day in Taulane is guaranteed hit. This place has everything : a great course, a stunning mountainous backdrop, a beautiful chateau turned into a hotel, a fantastic finish with the 9 and 18 double green at the foot of the Chateau terrace, a delicious restaurant. It may be less luxurious than Terre Blanche but if you are looking for a day away from it all Taulane definitely has a more authentic touch and is less busy. It even has great practice facilities in you fancy a short golf stay. It may be a little far away from the coast, but the 1h15 drive along the route Napoleon is a beauty in itself.

Go there, you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful setting, great condition, some lovely holes, 9 and 18 back to the clubhouse in particular. A little off the beaten track but well worth the visit.

Played this course on holiday recently and it really is wonderful. It may sound strange, but it's the closest I've come to a 'spiritual' experience on a golf course. It has much to do with the surroundings which are as perfect and tranquil as you can possibly imagine. Don't be put off by the long, windy (but stunning) drive up to the Chateau from the Cote d'Azur resorts; what awaits you when you arrive is truly worth it. The course itself is superbly maintained and it meanders its way through forests, beside streams and up and down mountains. The stand-out holes are obviously the 9th and 18th (take your camera!), but above all the course is about strategy and placement rather than muscling the ball from the tee. It really is a special place, and (in my view) just eclipses Domaine de Terre Blanche both as a course and as a resort (the latter being fancy but not nearly as welcoming). I can't wait to go back.

Surprised to see no reviews. On a recent golf tour around the Provence region, this course in addition to the Terre Blance at the 4 Seasons were easily the highlights of the tour. As word spreads I see more people looking to travel to play this fabulous course. The wonderful clubhouse is ideally positioned for a couple of cracking finishing holes for each 9, with a big lake coming into play.Fairways and greens were majestic, and all the holes expertly carved through the hills and pine trees. Excellent Day rate with a lunch included. Only word of warning, is don't walk 36 holes in July/August. The heat I think took it's tole even more than the tough course conditions.
