Tom Doak and Gil Hanse each received land to produce 18 holes of golf in the sandhills of northwest Texas, USA. Time will tell if this becomes the next golf destination.

Childress Hall
Not much is known about Childress Hall in the north of Texas. However, anytime you can get Gil Hanse and Tom Doak to build 18 holes each on a single property it must be quite a site. The sand dunes are known for their unique crescent shapes with the sand being of the quartz variety.
Whilst there are only two golf clubs in the world that currently have Gil Hanse and Tom Doak courses (Childress Hall and Cabot Highlands), it is interesting to note they worked together on Stonewall in Pennsylvania in 1993.
We will update the page as details emerge but we will share with you what we know now.
Childress Hall - Tom Doak
In November 2023, construction on Tom Doak's new course began in earnest. Eric Iverson, now principal at Rennaissance Golf Design, is the on-site design associate. He worked with Tom in New Zealand on Tara Iti and that turned out pretty well!
Childress Hall - Gil Hanse
Work on Gil Hanse's Childress Hall design began in 2024.
Construction & Grow In Team
Heritage Links is taking care of construction and Eric Greytok is overseeing the grow-in. He has a history at top-tier clubs around the USA including Pebble Beach, Winged Foot, Merion, Riviera, LACC and Congressional.
Additional Golf Courses at Childress Hall
There are two additional par 3 short golf courses planned at Childress Hall. There is no word yet on whether they will be designed and built by Tom and Gil or if other golf course architects will be brought in to try their hand…
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
