When Top 100 Golf recently asked members to nominate the globe’s best par 5s, there was one obvious one to add to their list of world-class three-shotters.

Amazing time playing this course, was warned as we went out by local members that it was the windiest they’d seen it in a while but this only made the day more memorable, especially navigating three of the par 3s, the signature 10th against extreme wind and then the 15th and 16th playing against swirling winds, the 15th especially having to hit a 220 yard club for a 148 yard hole.

At Cleeve Hill GC the course routing wends around the high green paddocks, sharing custody with flocks of sheep.

It is hard to know what exactly to make of cleeve hill a, perhaps the most overused word in golf comes to mind: potential.

I previously played Cleeve Hill over 50 years ago in mist and fog which proved quite a challenge as only 1 of our 3 ball had ever played it previously.

Quirky and at times steep, Cleeve Hill is an original and more than worth the trip to go see/play.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
