Today, the course extends to almost 5,800 metres, playing to a par of 71 (34 out then 37 in), and holes are arranged as two returning nines. The eighteen fairways occupy a property of around 100 acres, with #5 to #9 located in a separate 22-acre “compartment” to the south of the main layout.
Highlight holes include the first of the par threes at the 142-metre 6th (where the green lies at an offset angle behind a small pond); the last of three par fives on the longer back nine at the 485-metre 16th (doglegging right to the green); and the par four 18th which veers left from the tee towards the home green.

World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
