NO ! I rarely disagree with the website rankings but have to in the case of Connemara. In my view, it is as good as Nairn so should be ranked about 40 on the links list making it a GB&I top 100 course. ( Even more egregious is that Golf World / Today's Golfer top 100 links rankings does not include Connemara at all. ) This course has everything. It provides a robust challenge from a purely golfing perspective, holes of differing orientation, mixture of length of par 4s, plenty of strategy and always attractive - nice blend of dunes and traditional flattish linksland, animated by a sprinkling of very attractive rocky outcrops. It also offers breathtaking views from 5 tees (13th, 14th, 16th to 18th), which are as more attractive than 99% of links courses I've played. Yes it's out in the sticks but so is Carne, Brora and The Machrie and like these courses, Connemara is very much worth it. Treat the journey as a golfing pilgrimage. In addition and importantly, what really distinguishes Connemara is the genuine lack of weak holes - few course, even the Monuments , cannot boast this characteristic. It is an outstanding course (admittedly I played it in relatively benign conditions)
