Coombe Hill Golf Club

In 1911, Coombe Hill opened for play in an affluent area of southwest London — between Wimbledon and Kingston to be precise.

Coombe Hill Golf Club is easy to find, tucked between Wimbledon, Richmond and Kingston.

If you want an easy round of golf, Coombe Hill is the wrong place to go to.

This is a lovely club with superb very quick greens close to the centre of London.

I was born in nearby Kingston in the 1950s, and knew nothing of Coombe Hill and its golf course when we moved further west in Surrey a few years later, but if I had stayed here I would happily have become a Life Member.

An Old Parkland/Heathland course on the Edge of London, firth thing is negotiating how to get in, which is through double doors through the men's locker room, which is fine but no so good for ladies who are not allowed and have a very long walk around the club.

It was mid-September and the rain had been teeming down upon Coombe Hill and the surrounding area for a number of days.

A really, good course, in fantastic condition, and amazingly close to central London where it certainly doesn't feel like whilst you're out there.

Approaching the club house there is a fairly modest and unassuming look about the place but looks are deceiving, once you enter the club house it is a fairly luxuriously affair.
