Opened as The Dunes Port Hughes in 2011, The Copperclub at The Dunes Port Hughes is a 9-hole Greg Norman design overlooking the Spencer Gulf on the northern Yorke Peninsula. The course was intended as the sporting hub for South Australia’s premier residential and resort development.
A year after its unveiling, this high-profile venture went into receivership, with new developers Rural Bank transferring the golf course to the Copper Coast Council in a bid to revitalise it. A 21-year lease between the Council and the newly-formed Copperclub Golf and Community Association was agreed.
We then fast forward to October 2020, when it was announced that Colliers International had put the site up for sale, with 168 developed allotments already sold and 52 available. The property also includes 163 hectares of residential zoned land for the back nine holes and additional housing.
