Coppertop

At just under 6,300 yards from the back tees, few would argue the Coppertop Golf Club at Cherokee Hills is designed for the bruisers. That said, even the bruisers might consider leaving the driver in the bag anyway, based on the challenges Coppertop offers.

The club promotes the tightness of its fairways, boasting of its mature treelines. In other words, if you give a centimeter off the tee with the big stick, this course will certainly take a kilometer toll. No. 8, a short but sharp dogleg right, is as demanding an instance of “target golf” that can be found in Ohio, requiring absolute precision to land one’s tee shot on the sole strip of fairway.

Coppertop doesn’t have much of a historic architectural pedigree like its Cleveland-region neighbors, but that suits the club’s brand just fine. Now owned by a local group of friends, Coppertop has served as the go-to neighborhood haunt for Medina residents for nearly 40 years.
