The Country Club of Pittsfield is a private, 18-hole parkland course situated in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, in the heart of the Berkshire Hills. The club was founded in 1897, when a group of local men and women established a nine-hole course on rented land bounded by Dawes Avenue, Holmes Road, William Street, and Arlington Street. The present 18-hole layout was designed in 1915 by Donald J. Ross, one of the most prolific and influential golf architects in American history, and was subsequently remodeled in 1931 by Wayne Stiles of the Stiles & Van Kleek firm.
The course plays to a par of 71 and measures approximately 6,400 yards from the championship tees. The terrain reflects the natural character of the Berkshires, featuring rolling topography, mature trees, and sweeping views across the surrounding landscape. The layout has undergone several phases of renovation: a significant upgrade in 2003 added over 25 new bunkers and reworked all existing ones, and Bruce Hepner Golf Design conducted further renovation work in 2020.
The course carries notable historical significance within Massachusetts golf. It has hosted the Massachusetts Open in 1960 and 2000, the Massachusetts Amateur in 1954, 1984, and 2006, and the Massachusetts Women's Four-Ball Championship in 2016. The club hosts Massachusetts Open qualifying annually since 2019, and is scheduled to host the 2026 Massachusetts Super Senior Amateur Championship and the 2027 Massachusetts Mid-Amateur Championship.
