Measuring 7,071 yards from the longest tees, the course has a slope rating of 136 from those markers so that tells you it’s a real test, even for long hitters. Greens and fairways are carpeted in bent grass, with holes routed around a number of streams and small lakes.
In The American Private Golf Club Guide, Daniel Wexler thinks the more memorable holes on the course are “predictably watery (e.g. the 187-yard 7th, the 175-yard 13th) or faintly awkward (the 495-yard par five 8th, where longer hitters will frequently have to lay up off the tee)” though the author does concede “the 378-yard 14th, which twists rightward to a deep, very narrow green angled behind a pond, is far better.”
