My experience at County Louth Golf Club was one of the highlights of my trip to Ireland. I spent two nights in the bunk rooms above the clubhouse, and from the moment I arrived, I felt less like a visitor and more like a member. The hospitality was exceptional, and the members were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always happy to chat and share their love for the club.
The golf course itself is spectacular. The layout is both challenging and memorable, with one outstanding hole after another winding through classic links terrain. Course conditions were excellent, and every aspect of the property reflected the pride and tradition of the club.
What truly sets County Louth apart is the complete experience. Between the outstanding golf, the unique opportunity to stay on-site, and the genuine warmth of the membership, it is a place that leaves a lasting impression.
County Louth deserves far more recognition than it receives internationally. For anyone planning a golf trip to Ireland, this course should be near the top of the list. I highly recommend playing it and reserving a bunk house to complete the experience, and look forward to returning.

You must have played there before 2023 because those dormer rooms have been closed for at least 3 years. The hope is they will eventually be updated and reopened, but it is my understanding that it is not a priority of the club to get them reopened in the very near future. Hopefully, it happens because the rooms were a fine place to spend a night or two on a golf trip up or down the east coast.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
