Covered Bridge

Two-time major winner Fuzzy Zoeller is Indiana’s most accomplished professional golfer, and courses that he had a hand in designing are happy to showcase his name on the marquee. That goes to a special level at Covered Bridge Golf Course, which brands itself as “Fuzzy Zoeller’s Covered Bridge” and even owns the URL fuzzygolf.com. Somewhat ironic then that this course receives a significant amount of its play from the greater Louisville metropolitan area (Kentucky’s largest city).

Granted, a scratch player coming from this course’s back tees may not feel quite so warm and fuzzy (and, to be fair, credit is due to Zoeller’s collaborator in the design, Clyde Johnston). Players will meet the title span when coming off the tee at No. 9, a par five with watery trouble all along the left on its way to the green. Hopefully you did alright on that hole, as you’ll be faced with a sinister deja vu when you arrive at the final teebox.

No. 18 is almost a mirror image of No. 9, with a few extra yards added on for good measure. The pair share the same water hazards (with the lakes on the right for the latter hole). They even share a green, with No. 9’s putting surface pulling a 90-degree angle left around a large bunker, while the No. 18 green does the same in the opposite direction.
