A little known gem. Yes: it is often bone hard, and takes a few rounds to get to know. Yes, holes like the 5th (hitting into a huge hill) and 17th (a blind uphill par 3, which actually manages to be a bit dull) are not up to the standard of the rest. There a number of brilliant holes here though (2nd, with its majestic sweeping dogleg teeshot, the outstanding par 3 6th with a tiny landing area, and anything left lost for ever, a "Redan" hole on steroids, and the punishing closing hole, with a very steep green even if you hit two great shots to find it are three examples). The members are lovely, the food excellent, and the terrace view astonishing. Highly recommended.
